About the ArtistHistorical-lee:
Lee received her Bachelor's of Fine Art from Miami University, Oxford, OH and left pursuit of a Masters degree to marry and partner in building and working in DeVore's Land & Water Gardens. She has now retired and makes art in Oxford, OH.
Although kept busy by business and family commitments for 35 years, Lee still squeezed in a few local one man exhibits in Southwest Ohio over the years, and won several awards in local and regional juried exhibits. She also had opportunity to create several public fairy garden & house installations. (For a curriculum vitae, please request with contact form.) Lee's work leans toward the lyrical and gestural, even playful, with loose, impressionist and expressionist styles. For her, this way of working allows her to seek expression of the essence of things, what she calls 'the heart of the matter' Philosophical-lee

" 'Works of Art' are the products; 'Art' is the perception: a way of seeing, a way of living--attentive, receptive, reflective, responsive.
"The true purpose of all artwork is to communicate and rejuvenate--not just for our own satisfaction and self expression, nor for our own self-promotion, but to impact others. I don't believe in the modern mantra 'Art for Art's Sake.' I believe in Art for ALL of our sake's."
So: Live Artfully. Resonate. Expand. Integrate. Interpret. Share. Spread life."

"I find my place, feel the most alive, when I connect with the earth and the forces of nature, with awe and immediacy and all my senses. My works focus on and reflect this kinship. Although I majored in painting, I have as much the heart of a dancer, poet, philosopher, naturalist, and elf, and these perspectives flow freely into one another in all my works. All things enthrall me. All things connect.
"There is too much to celebrate for me to be content working in only one way or one medium. But whatever medium, whatever style, my intent remains the same: I hope for my works to enrich other people's lives, provoke thought, revive the spirit. Stir others awake to see and live attentively, artfully. Expressively. To discover for themselves the 'heart of the matter.' " |
